"Once again the Melges 32 is an amazing boat. We did the Harvest Moon regatta this weekend on Mojo. It is a 150 mile race from Galveston to Port Aransas. The breeze was from about 90-120 degree true wind angle with wind at 12-18kts with gusts as high as 23 or so. We were the first monohull to finish by over an hour, beating two J-122's, J-44 and a 1D35. We corrected out first in fleet by just over a minute using the ORC Ratings. Our boat speed was consistantly in the teens with top speed of 17.6kts, we averaged just over 11kts for the race, which included using a jib twice during the race to get back up to the rhumb line for a total of about 3 hrs. We missed the course record by about 30 minutes which was set by a Andrews 68 (Decision)." -Kevin Hayes ____________________________________________________________________________________ ![]() ![]() ![]() |
